No, GRUB is not dependent on ncurses, have you noticed when you run grub
it clears the screen and has that nice prety interface? That is ncurses.
Without ncurses grub will just print data using printf, it wont clear
the screen and move to the top as it usualy does, i cant think of a
decent way to tell you but for you to do it yourself, after tinkering
with the code for a long time i found that grub --no-curses has the same
effect as compiling grub without ncurses support. run grub --no-curses
and see what i'm talking about.
