More simple ...

gives

########

so some off by one error although /. also has off by two errors.
Interesting this

<table bgcolor=lightgrey>
<tr><td> </td><td> </td><td> </td></tr>
</table>

gives

#### # ##

not

# # #

as I would have expected.
