Subject: my crosscompiling hint updates

hi ian,

you probably noticed that i have been working hard on the hint lately
which resulted in quite a number of updates sent to you.

i've been giving it some thoughts how to proceed with the development
and the updates.
first i expect that the hint will need regular updates as the lfs book
advances to keep up with the optimization tweaks. i hope to have reached
a more or less stable point where updates to the individual packages
will become less frequent.

why am i writing this? i have noticed a very strong need for the hint.
do you think i should send all the updates straight on to you or rather
publish intermittant development versions separately and provide regular
'snapshots' for the cvs hint repository?
the former does not mean that i intend to bomb you with each and every
correction but rather with the changes i deem necessary.
the latter would result in some confusion as some would search the hint
archives and perhaps never find their way to the current version on a
separate page. in addition i do not like the thought of having several
points of reference for hints!

what do you think how we should proceed? will you get pissed by frequent
updates? ;-)
