I've experienced that problem as well as the issue with the 'user'
option not working the way it is expected. With that option set and the
mtab symlink the user cannot unmount the disk, however with a static
mtab file it works flawlessly. There are other issues as well, perhaps
you should read the mtab.txt hints and see the list of grievances there
;-)
