Summary: Greater emphasis suggested concerning packages and
                    patches
           Product: Linux From Scratch
           Version: CVS
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P5
         Component: Book
        AssignedTo: lfs-book at linuxfromscratch.org
        ReportedBy: m-abel at columbus.rr.com
         QAContact: lfs-book at linuxfromscratch.org

Fabulous book. Two comments (related enough to submit as one report) which I
think it should say up front:

1. DON'T install all the patches at the beginning. Install them as specified.
Not every patch is suitable for every compile.

(My GCC phase 1 install had some bonkers problems, like stdio.h not found....)

2. DO delete build and source directories immediately, except as directed.

(I'm not 100% sure about this, but I seemed to have problems if I left them around.)

Best regards,
