 I wasn't going to intend to use a sed (I used the link to show the gcc
 flag that works), the way you had it was like I had in mind. Also,
 -mstackrealign works fine.

 Sorry, I'm not sure how to hack perl to use libz.so and not libz.a. But,
 then again, other packages use libz.a, and the only way to fix this would
 be to add -fPIC to CFLAGS.
