The following is applicable to almost anything that disappeared from
alpha.gnu.org:

- a lot of stuff is back on alpha.gnu.org
- many other packages can be found at http://savannah.gnu.org/
- cvs -d:pserver:anoncvs at subversions.gnu.org:/cvsroot/<xyz> co <xyz>
- many packages have their own homepage, development releases can
  sometimes be found there:
   -- http://www.gzip.org/
   -- http://www.greenwoodsoftware.com/less/
   -- http://texinfo.org/, ftp://ftp.texinfo.org/

Findutils CVS is even newer than 4.1.7, I think.
