One contains -mcpu=585
the other -mcpu=i586

(notice the 'i' before 586)

Yes, do check if the /usr/bin/cpp /lib/cpp and /usr/lib/cpp files are
present (the ones in /lib and /usr/lib must point to
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/<target>/2.95.2/cpp)
