There's a problem with login using the 2.3 and 2.4-test kernels: it hangs
for about a minute until it gives you a shell. This delay is caused by nis
resolving. The fix is to add "publickey: files[NOTFOUND=return]" to the
nsswitch.conf file. A lot of people have been asking about this and I think
it would be helpfull to put it in the next LFS release.
