chaining commands

How do people feel about chaing commands with "&&" instead of ";" ?

i.e.  "make && make install && make instal-suid"

Someone once told me it was good to do this because the chain stops if it
encounters an error so you can see it instead of the thing scrolling on by
unabated. Mostly i note the book does the commands in a "safest case"
manual one at a time manner, but i recall a few that are chained.
