proftpd

I tried to create 'ftp' user by running:

useradd ftp
passwd ftp

and having "" as a password (no password).
And I couldn't see anything interesting at all in auth.log.

Any idea what to do? Was my conf file correct?

Does the 'ftp' user exist in /etc/passwd? And you have to give that user
a shell like /bin/bash

Check your /var/log/auth.log file - proftpd will have logged the exact
reason for the failed login (it's not always password related)
