I had the same problem.

Just delete "/usr/src/gcc-build" directory and mkdir "/usr/src/gcc-build"
again.
And then try compiling again.

Hope it helps.

Hi

I've been having problems with mail recently, did the below message
reach the list??
Any help appreciated, gcc failed for the third time last night.

Ok, I have reached chapter 6 and installed ed etc, however gcc fails
with the
following output:

<snipped>
xgcc: ../libio/pic/stdstrbufs.o: No such file or directory
xgcc: ../libio/pic/stdstreams.o: No such file or directory
xgcc: ../libio/pic/stream.o: No such file or directory

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have tried twice, both
times in
the chroot'ed environment and using cut&paste from the book. I'm
installing on a Mandrake 7.2 system with a P133 processor and using -03
optimisation. Gcc-2.95.2 (although
gcc --version reports 2.95.3!).

Thanks

Chris
