Well, if you don't need native language support you could pass --disable-nls

Subject: binutils on SuSE 6.4

Hiho!
Just started to install LFS inside a vmware-box (running SuSE6.4) on my
Pentium (also running SuSE6.4).

Balu2:/mnt/LFS/usr/src/binutils-2.9.5.0.37 # uname -a
Linux Balu2 2.2.14 #1 Mon Mar 13 10:51:48 GMT 2000 i686 unknown
Balu2:/mnt/LFS/usr/src/binutils-2.9.5.0.37 # gcc --version
2.95.2
Balu2:/mnt/LFS/usr/src/binutils-2.9.5.0.37 # rpm -q libc
libc-2.1.3-58

Compiling the binutils 2.9.5.0.37 stops with
(full typescript of configure and make can be found for some days at)

It seems that the national language support is making problems, but how
do I get around this?
