One major fact for gnuPG is that it is based upon the proposed internet
standard for openPGP (RFC2440).
PGPs older versions (which are still mostly used) are not compatible to
this standard. Even worse older PGP-Versions (2.x) are not compatible to
openPGP - the problem is that those versions use the patented
IDEA-algorithm (there is a patched gnupg to support that)...
PS: To get my public-key do a "whois -h whois.ripe.net pgpkey-bfb1428c".
