gcc problem in chroot

Actually, upon looking a bit closer, it could be the "as" file that is 
missing.  I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong as I'm not in front 
of my linux system right now, but I think as is an assembler that comes with 
binutils.  Do you have a file calles /usr/bin/as or gas or something to that 
effect?  Have you properly installed binutils?  If you don't have as, but do 
have gas, maybe a sim-link would work.
