glibc segmentation fault

Ok, I've built a LFS system following 2.4 to the letter.. but now am trying
to create *another* LFS system using the original LFS system as opposed to
creating it with redhat 6.1 like I made the first one. I get to the step
where I am compiling glibc and get the following message(s):

gcc -nostdlib -nostartfiles -o /mnt/usr/src/glibc-build/sunrpc/rpcinfo
-Wl,-dynamic-linker=/lib/ld-linux.so.2 /mnt/usr/src/glibc-build/csu/crt1.o
/mnt/usr/src/glibc-build/csu/crti.o `gcc --print-file-name=crtbegin.o`
/mnt/usr/src/glibc-build/sunrpc/rpcinfo.o

Does anyone have an idea why I'd be getting this message? I can't proceed
with compiling until this is resolved. :-( I am compiling with GCC 2.95.2
on a Intel Pentium w/ 64MB of RAM. I've seen some items going up about RAM
issues, but since I was able to compile it only Tuesday from my redhat
installation (which no longer exists), I don't understand why this won't
work. Please help! Thanks.
