Compileproblems with fileutils-4.0

Download the patch from download.linuxfromscratch.org/glibc-2.2-patches

apply:
	cd fileutils-4.0
	patch -Np1 -i /path/to/fileutils-4.0-glibc-2.2.patch

Continue compilation, thing should work now.

In your situation also apply the gcc patch later on (the patch is found in 
the same directory as the fileutils patch):
	cd gcc-2.95.2
	patch -Np1 -i /path/to/gcc-2.95.2-glibc-2.2.patch
