i got this, and could'nt figure out what was wrong.

in my case, i had compiled glibc with the -fomit-frame-pointer flag.
having recompiled glibc without, everithing got solved. you might wanna 
see if that is the case.

if you plan to use gcc3 for everithing, than good luck. it means almost 
no c++ (forget kde, and be careful with groff).

personally, i have'nt managed to install x yet.

but that's new gccs for you. you might wanna wait til the start of 
august for 3.0.1
