Bash ok but

I did

export CPPFLAGS=-Dre_max_failures=re_max_failures2 &&
./configure --prefix=$LFS/usr --disable-nls &&
unset CPPFLAGS &&
make LDFLAGS=-static &&
make install

when doing it separatly, the mesage appears when doing "make
LDFLAGS=-static"

should I try without exporting  the CPPFLAGS value ??
