What's your $TERM set to? you can check with a;

echo $TERM

quasar:/etc/postfix# echo $TERM

If it's set to 'dumb' then i suggest you use 'linux' or 'xterm' (or even
xterm-xfree86/xterm-color) ala;

export TERM=linux

And give that a try...
