The base bash time seems to be slow for your system. Mine was 141 sec
for a 667MHz/128MB, Gcc 3.1, P3 system. If you have IDE hard disk(s),
did you use hdparm to tune them? (I did).

[root at lfs3 ~]# hdparm -tT /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
  Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 0.69 seconds =185.51 MB/sec
  Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 2.91 seconds = 21.99 MB/sec

Just to check, I went back to check my bash times in more detail:
configure 51.56 sec
make 84.90 sec
make install 0.41 sec

For a total of 136.87 sec.
