The easiest solution I found is to make an invalid /etc/nsswitch.conf.
Please try:

-------------------------------------
#/etc/nsswitch.conf

passwd: nowhere
group: nowhere
------------------------------------


With this configuration the glibc tries to find a 
"libnss_nowhere-2.3.1.so"   :-)
