What's so hard about:

sed -e 's/\(.*\)\(fopen-safer\.c \)\\/\1\2atexit.c \\/' \
-e 's/\(.*\)\(idcache\$U\.\$.*\)\\/\1\2atexit$U.$(OBJEXT) \\/' \
lib/Makefile.in.backup > lib/Makefile.in ??
