/usr/src/linux & /usr/src/linux-2.4.20 directories

the book talk about /usr/src/linux directory when it is time to compile
the keymap in the kernel.
but the directory "linux" doesn't exist, the kernel sources are in the
/usr/src/linux-2.4.20 directory
Should a symlink linux which would point the linux-2.4.xx directory be
created?
