Ah, you want to understand the reasons behind that answer.  To do that
you need to understand the problem space but you claim not to have time
to acquire the knowledge of the problem space but you want Greg (or
someone) to explain it to you.  To do that one would need to explain the
nature of the problem space... which is why you have been given pointers
to documentation that does just that i.e. explain the problem space. 
With that knowledge you would then understand the answer.

You need to make a decision as to how important understanding the answer
is.  If it is important enough, then make the time to acquire the
knowledge.  If it is not important enough accept/reject the answer as
you like but people are not going to recognize you as being in a
position to criticize it i.e. they will consider your comments as
