I don't know if this is build method or user error, but on glibc I'm

checking for gcc... gcc
checking version of gcc... v. ?.??, bad

root:/usr/src/glibc-build# gcc --version
bash: /stage1/bin/gcc: No such file or directory

root:/usr/src/glibc-build# ls -l /stage1/bin/gcc
-rwxr-xr-x    2 root     root       305952 May 12 07:48 /stage1/bin/gcc

root:/usr/src/glibc-build# ldd /stage1/bin/gcc
/stage1/bin/ldd: /stage1/bin/gcc: No such file or directory

>From outside chroot, ldd gives:

[tty3 root 04:34am /lfs/stage1/bin] ldd /usr/bin/gcc => /lib/ (0x4001b000)
        /lib/ => /lib/ (0x40000000)

I haven't begun to debug it. It's 4:30am here. I'm going to bed. I
thought I'd post this in case anyone else is having this problem.

..every Man has a Property in his own Person. This no Body has any Right
to but himself. The Labour of his Body, and the Work of his Hands, we
may say, are properly his. .... The great and chief end therefore, of
Mens uniting into Commonwealths, and putting themselves under
Government, is the Preservation of their Property.
