Everyone, please answer the mail below (preferrably without looking at
each other). I want to compare the replies:

Subject: Help please!

I have successfully built LFS 5.0, thanks for this wonderful work.
Everything worked fine, including printing (I have a HP LaserJet 1200
connected via the parallel port) and dialup connection. Then I upgraded
my kernel to 2.6.3, and was really impressed by the fact that now I
don't have to build DRI separately.

I also wanted to try out the new NPTL threading library and my friend
pointed me to LFS CVS HEAD. I built it without errors, and I was able to
continue with BLFS, but neither printing nor dialup works :(. The
/dev/lp0 and /dev/ppp nodes are not present at all. The kernel
configuration is the same working one as I used when upgrading LFS-5.0
to linux-2.6.3. The relevant entries from modprobe.conf file (identical
for both systems) written according to HOWTOs from tldp.org are pasted
below:

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
alias char-major-4 serial
alias char-major-6 lp
alias char-major-108 ppp_generic
alias tty-ldisc-3 ppp_async
alias tty-ldisc-14 ppp_synctty
alias ppp-compress-21 bsd_comp
alias ppp-compress-24 ppp_deflate
alias ppp-compress-26 ppp_deflate

How do I fix this problem?
