OK, you need to set --host= during glibc configure to match what
you are targeting.

The error here is your powerpc cross-assembler doesn't grok
i386 opcodes ;-)

if you did set --host=powerpc-eabispe you may want to check that
glibc's configury handles that target name correctly.
