You are indeed correct. But I would bet that 90% (probably higher) of
the readers wouldn't even look in DESTDIR, instead just blindly copying
and pasting the commands and going on their merry way building a system.

I haven't and wouldn't. I understand the nature of 'discussion'. As
long as things don't get personal, a discussion is just folks expressing
opinion and the foundations behind that opinion. Though I have a short
memory, I haven't seen things get personal on an LFS list in a long time.
