Actually, the sticky bit isn't really necessary, since the package-user 
would be doing "rm -r $dest/*" after relocating the files to the live 
system, thus leaving it empty.

Also, & still slightly OT (sorry), i've been using "strip 
--strip-unneeded" instead of "strip --strip-all" on the binaries in 
$dest, as 'man strip' says something about 'relocation symbols' - i 
don't understand it entirely, but figured better safe than sorry, plus 
it's what portage does...
