Please take time to create the following setup in a virtual machine:

/dev/hda1 as the only partition
LVM on /dev/hda1
GRUB2 in MBR

Last time I tried this, it worked and then, on the next reboot,

OTOH, since (B)LFS doesn't support LVM2 anyway, I don't consider the
failure of this test a showstopper.
