Just got around to looking at this. I see the failure because I don't have
/dev/log available in the chroot. You won't see the failure because LFS
bind mounts the host's /dev which I refuse to do. (BTW, won't this pollute
the host's logs with junk from the chroot? Yuck).
Anyway, I'll stick with the sed replicating the upstream fix.
