LFS 6.5-rc1: md5 weirdness with lfs-bootscripts-20090523 and udev-config-20090523

Something funny is happening: I get slightly different files from the
rc1 directory and the development directory:
$ ls -lA
total 120
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jeremy jeremy 42803 2009-07-25 08:02 lfs-bootscripts-20090523.dev.tar.bz2
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jeremy jeremy 42806 2009-07-25 14:47 lfs-bootscripts-20090523.rc1.tar.bz2
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jeremy jeremy 13132 2009-07-25 08:02 udev-config-20090523.dev.tar.bz2
-rw-rw-r-- 1 jeremy jeremy 13135 2009-07-25 14:47 udev-config-20090523.rc1.tar.bz2
They untar to identical file trees, but do not bunzip2 to identical
files.
The md5s are odd too:
$ md5sum *
c6558b1b0cc2c8537362adecbdb7b671 lfs-bootscripts-20090523.dev.tar.bz2
3075c016b990e2fedada28488ddd17ed lfs-bootscripts-20090523.rc1.tar.bz2
c8eb55e1f47243a955d37f1e7ecddb7c udev-config-20090523.dev.tar.bz2
3941619d5352deecf0013126d6736fbf udev-config-20090523.rc1.tar.bz2
The development HTML gives the right md5s for the development files
but the md5s in rc1 HTML pages don't agree with anything.
