question about toolchain in chapter six

Hello all,

I just stumbled over the fact, that -- after binutils is installed in
chapter six -- gcc still uses /tools/bin/ld due to the symlink in
/tools/i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin which still points to /tools/bin/ld. This
also means that the lib search path still includes
/tools/i686-pc-linux-gnu/lib.

Would it be OK to change this symlink to point to the newly installed ld
in /usr/bin? Or is the /tools search path still needed?
