This will definitely not work. If you want to use those newer versions, 
you're probably better off trying cross-lfs. However, you must keep in 
mind that simply substituting newer versions will not always work. For 
example, the website for expect *very clearly* states that 5.44.1 is 
known to be buggy and is not supported.
