The problem is elsewhere --- in the "align" attribute. When you remove
align="left", everything's OK. Links doesn't support floating objects yet.
So they're displayed on single line.

You said first that inline images doesn't work. Not floating objects.
Inline images work, but floating objects are not implemented yet.
